It’s Transformation Tuesday! We’re sharing a couple chairs we re-finished using our DIY chalk paint. We are also excited to be over at the Ribbon Retreat today sharing a fun back to school project for their A-Z series. We crafted up a “Praise Plate” for the letter ‘P.’ Be sure to hop over to the Ribbon Retreat’s blog (HERE) for the tutorial and to check out all the other awesome back to to school projects so far in the series.
Now let’s get to the chairs! We picked these beauties up on one of our runs to the thrift store. They are sturdy and have so much character, we couldn’t wait to get some paint on them. We purchased 3 chairs-painted 1 yellow and 2 of them white.
Have you checked out our DIY chalk paint yet? It’s easy, much cheaper than the name brand stuff, and best of all-it works great every time! See a full tutorial HERE, and a video tutorial HERE. First step is always to clean the furniture really well. When using chalk paint, that’s the only prep that is needed! We used our Critter spray gun and put 3 coats on each chair.
They turned out beautiful! One tip when using chalk paint: it has a rougher feel than regular paint but a little light sanding smooths it right out. We just lightly sanded the seat and chair back before we waxed for a nice smooth surface.
