For the past few years I have had a Peppermint themed tree in my front room, (see it HERE) but I am ready for a little switcharoo! I wanted a rustic, woodsy, family cabin styled tree. What’s more rustic and woodsy looking than burlap? So I tried a few techniques (some pretty time consuming==no good), wasted a bit of burlap, and then…… perfection!
First step, cut the burlap into strips -4 inches wide and 3 feet long. Or you can buy a roll of 4 inch wide burlap like THIS to save on cutting! Thread the needle and start sewing through the center of the strip using big (1-2 inches) stitches.
The burlap balls add killer texture and interest to the tree don’t you think?! I love them! They are perfect for that perfectly rustic look I was going for, and they were fast and easy. It’s like a crafting jackpot! Easy, fast, beautiful, AND cheap! Hooray! Are you trimming your tree this weekend?
