I have a small obsession with old trucks. 😉 I would love to own a beautiful old truck and park it on display at my beautiful farm house. First step, find a beautiful farm house-haha! In the meantime, I take a lot of pictures of old trucks! This one in particular was sent to me last year by my sweet friend, who knows me very well. 🙂 When the truck is parked with pumpkins and a beautiful red barn?? Oh my gosh – it belongs on display in my house!
Which leads me to today’s post–How to turn a photo into art. This picture is just too perfect to sit on my phone. Who doesn’t have that perfect picture just sitting on our phone or computer? It is so fun to create our own wall decor from places we’ve been and things we love. This is a super easy way to do it!
Okay, here’s what you need:
- A beautiful photo. Scenery, mountains, old trucks, etc….
- Waterlogue app (see it HERE in the itunes store)
- 1 x 4 wood
- Wood glue
- Paint sticks (2)
- Wood Stain
Here’s the original photo I started with. Isn’t it just beautiful?! Straight out of my dreamland. 🙂
Now to turn it to watercolor. Download the Waterlogue app. It’s $4 and it’s totally worth it! It is so much fun to play around with. There are quite a few different watercolor style choices-just play around until you love it! It will turn your photo into a watercolor masterpiece with just a few clicks, it’s amazing.
Sand the edges of the boards. This will sand away any over hanging photo so it’s a perfect fit.
Now cut the paint sticks to the fit. I just used a good pair of scissors to cut mine. Space the boards how you want and use wood glue to glue the paint sticks stain side down over the back of the boards.
Are you ready to pick out some pictures for this?! I know I’ve got a few more in mind that I’d like to do. Maybe a truck with a Christmas tree in the back for December?!! 😉
If you have awesome old truck pictures, send them on over- I’d love to see them!
