Good news everyone! You know all that math we had to learn? We’re about to bust some out! Are you scared or totally excited?
First, I’ll just say- a square piece of wood would be a little easier, it’s easier to find the center of a square than a circle. But circle is what I got. (You could also just have a circle sign.)
I wanted it to be an octagon, so the first step is to find the center of the circle. Math.
AKA husbands help. 🙂
Once the center is marked, draw a + on the board,
then make a square exactly around the center.
Now draw cross lines through the corners of the square.
It’s now divided into 8 sections!
Just connect the lines along the outer edge to create the octagon.
Now cut along the lines (again husbands help) –Octagon!
I painted 2 coats of white paint. (I just used acrylic.)
Then I created my words and cut some vinyl with my Silhouette.
Using transfer tape, I applied the words to my painted board.
I also put some vinyl strips around the edges so it would have a white outline.
Paint two coats of red paint, and peel off the vinyl to reveal white letters!
I sprayed it with a Glossy lacquer top coat to seal it. For the pole, we used 3/4 inch pipe straps to attach 3/4 inch conduit to the back of the sign. We also got a big stake and hammered that into the ground first, then just slid the conduit right over the stake.
15 days until Santa Stops here! Hope you’re staying warm and having a great holiday season so far! : )
