This is our very first post written on WordPress! Holy smokes-it’s going to be a big learning curve! We’ll get it though! Our site will be UNDER CONSTRUCTION for a bit. As well as our houses. Steff is re -doing her son Breken’s room and we’re replacing our kitchen floor. My house is a complete disaster, covered in crazy amounts of demolition dust, with food and furniture spread out in every room. It’s going to be a long week. We’ll be sharing our progress of course! 🙂
If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll remember we went on a little weekend getaway to Vegas a couple weeks ago. We had a whole list of shops to hit, including a Swap meet in Vegas!
First stop: Bullock Drug and Gift in Cedar City, UT. We spent a long time browsing around this gem of a store. It has an old fashioned candy and soda shop and is just filled with unique treasures!
(Most of the pictures in this collage are from Bullock’s drugstore, a couple are from other stops.)Next stop, Lizzy Lane boutique in St. George UT. Steffany’s friend Amy owns this shop, and oh man-it’s a must see! Amy’s creativity is bursting in every space of the store! Jewelry, scarves, unique home decor and kids clothing, and even some gourmet popcorn fill up this darling boutique! We loved everything about it!
After the boutique, we went to Amy’s house. It was equally amazing! Check out this built in bed with the chandelier and shelves all the way around-gorgeous! My girls would love that! Also worth sharing, her shower curtain – she hated the big brassy shower so they made a curtain rod and curtains to cover it up! Brilliant!
Last stop before moving on to Vegas: Urban Renewal. This is an antique/consignment kind of store. It was super fun to wander around. We nearly came home with this lovely golden bunny-but passed in the end! Ha! Not really. Neither of us go for rabbit decor, even around Easter. This bunny was the BEST bad Easter bunny ever! Also, couldn’t resist a photo of this handsome fellow with his tie and everything.
The two hour drive to Vegas was the most terrifying drive ever! It was a one lane road due to construction, it was dark, through a canyon and a torrential downpour. There was a fair amount of tense muscles, white knuckles, and nervous screams. Also, we drove very slow. And made is safely.
Las Vegas! Some like it, some don’t. I am on who does like it-I love the lights, the sounds, the food, the shopping and the shows.
Seriously, where else will you pass minions for kid photo ops and then a Zach Galifianakis look alike who you want to hide from kids. My plan? Just don’t bring my kids.
If the Vegas strip isn’t your thing, the Vegas Broadacres outdoor swap meet will be! We had a blast! There’s food, and music, and row after row of vendors. Old stuff, new stuff, good stuff, and some bad stuff. We managed to score some awesome stuff! Including Sherwin Williams paint for $5 a gallon, and quarts for $2! What?! We made out like bandits!
After the Swap Meet, Steff and I got to go to the Mandarin Spa. Steffany has another darling friend who works there. I have never stepped foot in an actual fancy pants spa! It was amazing. If we had taken a waterproof camera with us we would share the Oompa Loompa version of us with you. We got to do a Rasul mud treatment that made us look just like Oompa Loompa’s! The spa was amazing and we felt like movie stars for 2 hours! Loved it!
Last night of our little getaway, we went to the Cirque du Soleil Beatles Love show. AMAZING! We also couldn’t resist a picture of Steffany in front of Gucci. She gets comments on her hair all the time, and possibly the most unique comment ever has been “Girl, your hair be so Gucci and so fresh!” Gucci is an adjective sometimes! Also, we did not shop there. Or even go in the store.
The moral of this travel story is that if you make your way down to St. George, UT you must do some shopping at Lizzy Lane and if you make your way down to Las Vegas be sure hit up the Broadacres Swap Meet! It’s the best! Also, drive slow in torrential rain in the dark through construction and a canyon.
Loved the shout out! Thanks you two. I really appreciate it. You’re blog is awesome and I can’t wait to follow the path you two are blazing.
Thanks again,
A
