Something Steff and I are starting to really have fun with is party planning. We don’t do a lot, but between the two of us we manage to have a handful of birthday’s, bridal showers, baby showers, and even a wedding reception here and there. (See our Lego Party HERE, vintage wedding reception HERE) This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle birthday party was for our nephew Jack. It was so fun to put together, it was also mostly Steffany. Seriously, she rocked this Ninja Turtle theme!
The table centerpieces were green balloons with colored crepe paper tied around each one to make Ninja Turtle masks. (The crepe paper is attached with a little Elmer’s glue.) We just used white and black paper for the eyes. To get them to stand up, we used balloon saucers and sticks from Zurchers. I think they were about 10 cents a piece. We stuck the balloons in a #10 size can filled with dirt and plastic bugs on the very top.
To drink: Green slushie to look like ooze in a mini tin garbage can. Steff just found an image online and added the word “OOZE.” We used soup cans and #10 cans for straws and cups. We wrapped the cans with a strip of green Duck Tape.
The cupcake stand was just pizza tins from the Dollar Store stacked and hot glued on a #10 can and a soup can.
Every kid got their own TMNT mask and a foam sword to play with. The masks were made of felt, simply cut into strips with two holes for the eyes. We just tied them on. The kids thought this was so fun! They got to take the mask and sword home with them at the end of the party.
Masks, swords and candy made for one happy birthday boy- and a good pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle socks of course. 🙂
Linking up to some of these parties:
The swords were actually bought on sale at Walmart.
how did you make the swords?
Cute idea for a boy’s birthday party!
