So one of our favorite things to do is hunt for crap at thrift stores. Usually Steff and I use a really excited voice when we tell the kids where we’re going…… because we’re really excited. Usually our kids reply with a long desperate, “Noooooooo!”
Then we make our way to the thrift store and find something really fun like this table:
All it needed was a little TLC to become a perfect little spot for kids to doodle the day away! Most pieces of furniture can be easily un-assembled to make painting them very simple. That’s just what we did with this table, we took it apart and painted the table top separately. We cleaned the whole thing really well, primed the whole thing, then used chalkboard paint on the top and latex paint on the rest. We have learned it’s best to follow the directions on the chalkboard paint label. 🙂 Once all the pieces were dry, we just re-assembled the table.
Hooray for treasures at the thrift store! Despite kids moaning and groaning as they tag along. Now that they are in school, we can hit our favorite spots without any resistance. 😉
