Valentine OR Everyday Stacked Blocks

January 12, 2015 By: Melanie

*UPDATE*  Thank you everyone who entered our giveaway!  The winner is Jennifer Montague #16!  Congratulations Jennifer-we sent you an email.  Thanks again for all your comments!  xoxo

Happy Monday everyone!   It’s Wood Connection post time here!  Do you know what that means? It means there’s a GIVEAWAY too! $25 to the Wood Connection!  Wahoo!  We’re making it super easy to enter, see how at the bottom of the post. 🙂    We are sharing this project over at  The Wood Connection  blog today as well, be sure to go check it out and browse around all the other great projects while you’re there.

We are so excited to share this super simple project.   As you might know, Steffany is expecting a little girl in April (yay!!), so we have been doing a few projects for her nursery.  These cute stacked blocks are a perfect addition. We love that they are perfect to put out for Valentine’s Day too! Valentine Stacked Blocks (3)

Here’s what you need (most from The Wood Connection):

  • 3 Wood Blocks
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Acrylic paint
  • Foam brush
  • Wood glue
  • Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun

Valentine Stacked Blocks (2)

First, paint the blocks.  (We used the colors light ivory, and sea foam.)

Next cut some paper to fit one block.  (The Wood Connection has the cutest scrapbook paper of all time!)  Use Wood glue to attach the paper to the block.Valentine Stacked Blocks (6)

Then use a nail file to sand the edges of the paper.  Valentine Stacked Blocks

For the blocks with flowers, hot glue a piece of ribbon around the block and then a burlap flower.  Valentine Stacked Blocks (5)

Then just stack the blocks for display!

We love how these little blocks turned out just about as much as we love browsing around The Wood Connection.  A good craft project is a perfect way to beat the winter blues,  and we want to help you!  We’re giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to get yourself some winter blues fighting goodness.  Just be a Find it, Make it, Love it email subscriber and leave us a comment on this post.  We’ll announce the winner on Thursday.  Good luck!
