Geometric Bead Necklaces

July 29, 2015 By: Melanie

We recently discovered geometric wooden beads and we are in love with them!  We couldn’t wait to get our hands on some and come up with some fun projects.  We partnered up with FizzyPops.com to make these darling  geometric bead necklaces!  And we couldn’t possibly make just one.  We had a lot of fun playing with lots of ideas and narrowed it down to the 3 cutest to share with you today.  One that is kind of classy, one that is playful, and one that is kind of in the middle.  You decide which is which 😉  Geometric Bead Necklaces (4)

The one we’ll start with is this cute color block necklace.  Perfect for just about any age and any occasion!Geometric Bead Necklaces (13)

Here’s what you need to make it:

  • Geometric wood beads 20 mm
  • Round beads 8 mm
  • Painters tape
  • Small paint brush
  • Paint
  • Ball chain necklace

The easiest way to paint wood beads is to put them on the end of a paintbrush.  That is the technique we use for all of these necklaces.  Once you have the bead stuck onto the end of the paintbrush, wrap a piece of painters tape around the center of the bead.  Geometric Bead Necklaces (1)

Paint the exposed half of each bead and place them in a cup or jar to let dry.Geometric Bead Necklaces (12)

Use the same painting trick for the 8 mm wood beads.Geometric Bead Necklaces (11)

Pull the tape off, then simply string them onto the ball chain necklace in any order you like.  Cute! Color block wood bead necklace

Next, how about this playful glitter necklace?  So perfect for little girls!Geometric Bead Necklaces (17)

Here’s what you need:

  • Geometric wood beads 15 mm
  • Ball Chain necklace
  • Paint
  • Small paintbrush
  • Mod Podge
  • Glitter
  • Clear spray sealer

Paint the bead (just like the previous necklace) and let dry.  Then paint on some Mod Podge…Geometric Bead Necklaces (9)

and roll the bead in glitter.  Geometric Bead Necklaces (7)

Back to the jar to let dry.Geometric Bead Necklaces (8)

The trick to keeping the glitter on the beads and not all over EVERYTHING else is to give the beads a quick coat of clear sealer.  Geometric Bead Necklaces (2)

Let the sealer dry, and string the beads onto the ball chain necklace.  Adorable.Glitter geometric bead necklace

Last necklace – cute and classy, navy and gold.  I actually wore this necklace already for a recent ‘Fresh Living’ TV segment Steffany and I did (See HERE,) and I really love it! Geometric Bead Necklaces (14)

Here’s what you need:

  • Colored geometric wooden beads 20 mm
  • Geometric wooden beads 20 mm
  • Clear round beads 10 mm
  • Gold chain
  • Paint
  • Small paintbrush

Although the beads come in lots of different colors, the geometric ones don’t come in gold, so we just painted a couple of the wood ones and paired our painted beads with the Navy blue beads.  Once you have the colors you want, just string them on a chain. Done and done!

What do you think?  Do you love the geometric beads as much as we do?!  Geometric Bead Necklaces (16)

While these beads are super fun for grown up craft time, they are also super fun for kid craft time.  Keeping some wood beads on hand makes for a great boredom busting project for kids, and sometimes we can really use a great boredom busting project. 🙂
