Perfect Fabric Rag Wreath for Fall

November 6, 2015 By: Melanie

We’re so excited to be teaching a class again at the Pinners Conference in Salt Lake City!

Pinners Conference SLC 2015

We have been presenters for three years now and it just gets bigger and better every year!  We love hanging out with crafty friends like you at our class and we love going to all the other amazing classes and doing a little shopping while we’re there.  So, so fun!  If you came to our class-thank you and we love you!  If you couldn’t make it our class – – we forgive you. 😉  And we’ve got the full tutorial here for the perfect fabric rag wreath for Fall so you can make one too.

Seriously though, this wreath is so cute for anytime decor don’t you think?  It’s quick, easy and inexpensive. Yes!  And in colors like yellow, white and tan we just might keep it up all year!  (Of course, you can make it in any colors you want.)Perfect Fabric Rag wreath. Beautiful for Fall or all year decor.

Here’s what you  need:

  • 1/4 yard white fabric
  • 1/4 yard tan fabric
  • 1/4 yard yellow/gold fabric
  • 12 inch foam wreath form
  • Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler (or scissors and measuring tape)

Tan, gold, and white fabric for a simple fall wreath

First, cut the fabric into strips that are 12 inches long and 1 inch wide.

Then simply start tying the strips around the wreath form.  How to tie a fabric rag wreath

Then slide the knot to the outside of the form and scrunch the tied fabric strips together.  Fabric Rag Wreath (6)Fabric Rag Wreath (5)

Scrunch, and slide each section until they all look even and the wreath form underneath is covered.  So simple! We made two different versions of the wreath and love them both.

For the look on the left,  alternate 7 strips of each color making a pattern.  Each color will have 4 sections.

For the look on the right, alternate 7 strips of yellow and 7 strips of white then tie all 28 tan strips in one section.Fabric Rag Wreath (4)

One set of supplies, two different looks.  Which one do you prefer?

Can we just say,  man we love a good wreath!  Especially one that’s so simple, but oh so cute!  Since we taught a wreath class last year at the Pinners Conference too, we’ve had a few people comment that we’re kind of becoming  the “wreath girls.”  We are so fine with that!  Ha ha!  We think everyone needs a great wreath……..or 10. 😉  Check out last year’s Pinners conference wreath HERE – – it’s super cute and also pretty simple.  2015-10-06 16.34.08Two ways to tie a perfect fall rag wreath. Pretty enough for everyday decor too!
