It is officially the Holiday season – yay! Thanksgiving is up next! A holiday that is all about celebrating everything we have and focusing on being truly thankful — LOVE it! Being grateful is oh so important and something I really try to emphasize year round with my girls. Man I love this time of year when we get to re-focus on having an attitude of gratitude. 🙂 I also love decorating for this time of year! Today we’re sharing this darling Thankful sign and paper feather banner.
While decorating for the holidays is fun, sometimes storing the decorations can be a challenge, so we made this sign using the backside of this Trick or Treat sign. Double duty! Yes! We used gold vinyl and the Silhouette to cut the word ‘Thankful.’ Click over to THIS post for the sign tutorial.
Now let’s talk about the feather banner. We cut these feathers on colored card stock using the Silhouette and a Silhouette design file. They are about 4 1/2 inches long. We went with some less traditional Fall colors for the feathers, and we sure love how it turned out! Navy blue, mint green, light coral, and white just became my new favorite colors for Fall. 🙂
To get the tips of the feathers gold, we put a board across them,
and used gold spray paint. Man we love this gold spray paint! (Check out THIS post.)
Once the paint was dry, we gently folded each feather lengthwise for a little more dimension.
To string the feathers together, we ran them through the sewing machine. Did you know you could do that?! We sewed paper for THIS banner too. It works really well!
Last, we just taped the string to back of the sign to hold up the banner.
Do you decorate for Thanksgiving? I know I’m pretty excited to get the Christmas stuff up, but I also really love giving Thanksgiving some time in the spotlight. 🙂
Linking up to some of these parties:

HI Melanie and Steffany! I just wanted to let you know that you are this week’s MEGA Rockstar from Creativity Unleashed! I will be shouting you out on all my social media outlets and will have tons of pins going up tonight on my biggest boards starting around 7:30EST. I’ll also be featuring you in my weekly newsletter on Friday. I hope you get LOTS of love this week! You totally deserve it, girls!!!
Thanks so much Erica! Yes totally doable. 🙂
Thank you so much Debbie! 🙂
Oh thank you Laura! We are so excited to be featured!
Thank you so much Nicki! We are thrilled to “meet” you too! You’re blog is awesome. Thanks for introducing yourself, can’t wait to see more. 🙂
This is absolutely adorable! I am visiting from the Creative Exchange party, and I couldn’t resist clicking over when I saw this. You have inspired me to make some feathers of my own and use them in maybe a different way, but I love the way these are gold tipped and the color palette is great too. Now I have to see what else you have on this blog that I might like! Nice to “meet” you!
This is so stinkin’ adorable!! I just love it! Featuring it as my hostess pick at Work it Wednesday! Have a wonderful day!!
Oh, I so love it! Thanks for sharing.
Saw these on the Whimsy Wednesday party…they look amazing! And actually doable! Thanks so much for sharing!
