Bunny and Carrot Banner

Spring banner craft

We are pretty excited about this bunny and carrot banner!  It is seriously adorable.  It’s a fun craft, and with very little painting, it’s pretty quick too.  We’ll walk you through step by step and share the helpful tips we figured out along the way.

What’s in your kit:

  • 4 triangle banner pieces
  • 5 rounded banner pieces
  • Vinyl Bunnies
  • Pom Poms for tails
  • Green jute carrot stems
  • Orange paper
  • Tan Burlap paper
  • String
  • Orange paint
  • Brush
  • Elmer’s glue

You will also need:

  • Pen or pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

How to make it:

Step 1- Trace:

Start by tracing the wood banner pieces onto the paper.  Trace onto the backside of the paper to avoid pencil lines.

Place the triangles on the paper as shown below.  Of course, you can choose which pattern you want on your carrots- stripes or polka dots.

Set the paper aside.

Step 2-Paint:

The only painting for this craft is for the carrots.  We leave the oval pieces un-painted, we think they look perfect as-is with the burlap paper.  Paint the triangle pieces orange.  Start by painting the sides, then lay flat to paint the back.  No need to paint the front since it will be covered with the orange paper.

While your paint is drying, cut out the traced paper.

Step 3-Paper:

Use the Elmer’s glue to attach the paper pieces to the wood pieces.  Make sure to get glue all the way to the edges.  Smooth out any bubbles and let dry.

Now use a pin or pointed scissors to puncture the paper where the holes are.

Step 4- Bunnies:

Time for those cute little bunnies!  They are peel and stick, so just peel them up and stick them onto the banner pieces.  Super easy!

Step 5-Hot Glue:

Use a hot glue gun to attach the carrot stems and the bunny tails.  The green stems are held together with an elastic.  We chose to leave the elastic in place to help hold the stem pieces together.  If you remove the elastic, you will need to be sure every strand is hot glued.

Step 6- String:

The final step is to string the pieces together.

***Here’s the trick to stringing this banner- using your fingers, put some glue on one end of the string.  Let the glue dry.  This will make that end stiff and therefore not impossible to string the wood pieces together.***

Now hang it anywhere you choose!  It’s so cute!Spring banner craft
