Christmas Ornament Door Hang

This Christmas ornament door hang is such a cute alternative to a traditional wreath.  We’re pretty excited about how cute it turned out!  This is a Find it, Make it, Love it original too!  That means we designed it start to finish and it’s not sold in stores; it’s only available through our class and kits.  So you’ve got yourself a unique and exclusive craft kit!  This is simple to make too, we’ll show you exactly how; including a trick to get the bow nice and even.

What’s in your kit:

  • Ornament and small bead board overlay
  • Red paint
  • White paint
  • Wood glue
  • Brushes
  • Tree vinyl
  • Merry Christmas vinyl
  • Ribbon

You will also need:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Painters tape

How to make it:

Step 1-Paint:

Start by painting the ornament red.  Paint the bead board piece white as well as the sides of the top.

Once the white is dry, use painters tape and paint the sides of the ornament red.

Glue the bead board overlay onto the top.

Step 2-Vinyl:

Once the paint is dry, it’s time for the vinyl.  The tree is just peel and stick.  Center it on the ornament and press.

Next place the ‘Merry Christmas’ vinyl.

If you’re new to vinyl, click HERE a more detailed tutorial on how to apply vinyl.

Step 3-Bow:

Last step is the bow.  We’ll show you the best way we found to get a nice even bow.

Create two loops, making them as even as possible.  Make the tails even too.

Cross one loop over the other.

And tie a knot with the loops.

Then pull tight and adjust however needed.  Ta-da!  No fighting with how to tie the perfect bow!

Hot glue in place.  We put a dab of hot glue under the tails to give them the wavy look.  Trim the ends at an angle.

That’s it!  This Christmas ornament door hang is ready for display!
